Welcome to the Soulful Sounds of
ScottyP Rockstar
Hello folks, I'm excited to share some highlights of my musical journey with you.
Starting out as a saxophone player and singer,
My story is rather unique..
I was raised on a farm near a small town in Iowa, where the corn and bean fields stretch for miles. That's where it all started for me. One day in sixth grade, my band teacher encouraged me to try playing the saxophone, so I wandered into the band room and laid eyes on the shiny instrument. Little did I know, that moment would set the stage for the rest of my musical career.
There was no master-plan but, like my mother, who had a beautiful singing voice, I really loved music, and enjoyed being on the stage at a very young age. It wasn't until high school, when I stumbled upon a local band, The Fabulous Traidmarx, and got a taste of that sweet, soulful sound of Motown, that I knew I was onto something special.
Fast Forward
Fast forward through a whirlwind of rock ‘n’ roll gigs, college, and a stint at the Metropolitan Opera Studio in New York City (yeah, I know, small-town kid in the Big Apple and in our country’s capital—craziest thing ever!). Many years later, you'll find me back in my roots, playing the songs you love to hear.
Nowadays, you can catch me grooving at themed events, serenading folks at the zoo (yep, you heard that right), or jamming out at trade shows. And let me tell you, there's nothing I love more than seeing a crowd light up when they hear their favorite song.
I have always loved entertaining people and spreading good vibes where ever I go.
My style is simple and straightforward. That’s why I refer to it as “Playing the Music You Love to Hear”. So, come join me on this wild ride through ScottyP’s wonderful world of music.
Let's make some memories,
one melody at a time.
Rock on,

Journey

Back in sixth grade, I stumbled upon the saxophone, not knowing much about it, but thinking it was pretty cool. Little did I know, that chance encounter would spark a lifelong love affair with music. With the guidance of my band director and the support of my musical family, I dove headfirst into the world of saxophone melodies.
-
As fate would have it, my journey took an unexpected turn when I picked up an acoustic guitar in high school. Jamming with friends, performing at church, and even serenading the crowd at prom, music became more than just a hobby – it became my calling.
-
Life's twists and turns led me to explore classical voice training at Drake University and even perform at prestigious venues like the Metropolitan Opera Studio, Texas Opera Theater and the Kennedy Center. But the call of rock 'n’ roll was never far behind. 30 years later I reunited with the band, The Fabulous Traidmarx, when we were inducted into The Iowa Rock ‘n Roll Hall of Fame and rediscovered the joy of making music together. What a kick that was! That was a lot of fun! After losing my singing voice several years ago, the desire for performing and sharing music didn’t go away, so I renewed my love of the saxophone!
-
With each note I play, I aim to create a vibe that resonates with audiences of all ages. Whether it's the smooth sounds of Sade or the funky beats of James Brown, my saxophone melodies are a reflection of my eclectic musical influences and my desire to spread joy through music.
Have a listen to me singing many years ago!

So, come on, friends! Let's go on this musical journey together.
